Introduction

Education professionals make a difference to the lives of children and young people, inspiring them to learn and developing their knowledge and skills to prepare them for their future. Our Education degree invites students to consider education within different learning environments and review education systems across the world. The Certificate of Higher Education in Education is a one year programme of study which aims to introduce students to learning, teaching, education, and research skills.

Modules

All Level 1 modules of the BA (Hons) Education programme must be successfully completed for the award of the Certificate of Higher Education. The programme has been designed to give students the opportunity, upon completion, to progress directly into Level 2 of the full degree programme.

Assessment

The aims of module assessments are to provide a measure of the development and attainment of course outcomes, including the attainment of high-level intellectual skills such as critical analysis and evaluation.

Accordingly, the nature of assessment varies across the three levels of the course. Assessments at levels one focus on the acquisition and understanding of knowledge and skills.

The University of Lincoln's policy on assessment feedback aims to ensure that academics will return in-course assessments to you promptly.

Career Opportunities

This programme is designed to provide successful students with the opportunity to progress directly on to our full degree programme. BA (Hons) Education graduates may choose to apply to a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (Primary) course. Those who wish to progress to a PGCE (Secondary) teaching course are required to study a national curriculum subject to degree level and this degree would not be sufficient.

School Centred Initial Teacher Training courses include Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and credits towards Master’s level study. Alternate career pathways may include working in museums, libraries, and education establishments which do not require QTS but do look for an in-depth understanding of education and learning.
