Introduction

The Certificate of Higher Education in Criminology and Sociology is a one year programme of study, which aims to offers students an introduction to the contemporary subjects of criminology and sociology. Teaching is informed by research and current social debate. This course aims to enable students to develop their understanding of both subject areas and apply that knowledge to real-life issues. Students may have the opportunity to analyse the different constructions of everyday social life in order to understand better the diverse groups and structures that make up modern society.


How You Study

All Level 1 modules of the BA (Hons) Criminology and Sociology programme must be successfully completed for the award of the Certificate of Higher Education. The programme has been designed to provide students with the opportunity, upon successful completion, to progress directly into Level 2 of the full degree programme.
