Lincoln law team takes to the stand in national mooting final
Louis Harman A talented team of Lincoln law students has reached the final of one of the countryís most prestigious legal mooting competitions, designed to test the advocacy skills of law undergraduates.

Louis Harman and Abdul Siddiquee from the University of Lincoln will compete in the final of the OUP and BPP National Mooting Competition, which takes place at BPP Law School on Thursday 27th June.

The OUP and BPP National Mooting Competition is one of the most established contests of its kind, and pits aspiring advocates from different UK universities against each other in realistic recreations of court room scenarios.

The University of Lincoln team has been involved in a series of courtroom battles since October 2012 and has seen off competition from a field of more than 70 other law schools around the country. Louis and Abdul are now preparing to take to the stand to compete against fellow finalists from Manchester Metropolitan University.

Speaking about the teamís achievements ahead of the final, Louis Harman said: "Being in the final still seems like a surreal experience. It has been a long journey with lots of hard work, but we have had fantastic results and have thoroughly enjoyed working as part of a successful team. Now we are looking forward to our biggest challenge yet, which will come in the final round. We are gunning for victory and Iím quietly confident that we can fight our corner."

The concluding round of the competition will see the finalists contest a mock appeal before a judge, responding as a real Counsel would do, from case research and preparation, to examination of evidence and concluding arguments.

John Kelly, Lecturer at the University of Lincolnís Law School and Barrister, said: "The students have worked tremendously hard throughout this academic year to get to the final of the OUP and BPP National Mooting Competition. The achievement is particularly impressive given that over 70 other UK law schools entered the competition this year.

ďLouis and Abdul have developed their legal skills considerably and I'm confident that their progress so far in this competition will stand them in good stead in gaining a foothold in the ever competitive world of legal practice."

The OUP and BPP National Mooting Competition Final 2012-13 will take place at BPP Law School in Holbon, London, on the evening of Thursday 27th June. For further details of the event visit or contact
