Food sector leaders to share lessons on knowing your market
A delegate makes notes at the first Food Sector Knowledge Forum The next gathering of a new network for food industry leaders to debate issues facing the sector will take place at the University of Lincoln.

Please note that this event, originally scheduled for Tuesday 27th March, has been postponed until June.

The Lincolnshire Leadership and Management Centre (LLMC), based in Lincoln's Faculty of Business and Law, will host the Food Sector Knowledge Forum's first meeting of 2012. It follows a successful pilot event in October 2011, which brought together delegates from some of the UK's biggest food companies.

The latest Forum event is titled: 'Understanding your market: lessons from the food sector' and will feature keynote talks from renowned academic, industry and marketing experts.

Professor David Hughes, Emeritus Professor of Food Marketing at Imperial College London, will start the debate by considering the potential impacts of global trends on the UK food and drink industry over the next decade.

Steve Dixon, owner of brand consultancy firm Brandthing Ltd, will follow up by talking about successful branding and innovation within the sector.

Keith Hearne, Operations Director of Lincolnshire's JDM Food Group, will then offer a practitioner's perspective on growing and maintaining new markets, before all delegates take part in a panel-based question and answer session.

Professor Martin Hingley, Professor of Strategic Marketing at the University of Lincoln and part of the team behind the Food Sector Knowledge Forum, said: "As the UK's economic competitiveness becomes increasingly dependent upon innovation within key industry sectors, knowledge sharing, thought-leadership and the collaboration of the private sector with world-class academic institutions has never been more important."

This is the first of three Food Sector Knowledge Forum events scheduled for 2012, where industry leaders can come together to share ideas and perspectives on the industry's most thought-provoking topics.
