Royal visit to Holbeach
Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Gloucester GCVO unveiled a commemorative plaque as she visited the University of Lincoln’s Holbeach campus.
The Duchess was welcomed by Professor David Chiddick, Vice Chancellor at the University of Lincoln, Val Braybrooks, Dean of Faculty with responsibility for Holbeach, and Gerrit Meerdink, Head of Food Manufacture and Process Technology at the Holbeach campus, among others.
She was given a tour of the Holbeach campus’ new £3.5m training facility – the National Centre for Food Manufacturing, which is due to open early next year.
Michael Dudbridge, Principal Lecturer in Food Manufacture, introduced her to a group of BSc students.
They gave her a demonstration of their work on the centre’s state-of-the-art production line, which has just recently been installed.
The Duchess was in Lincolnshire to fulfil several official engagements.
Val Braybrooks said: “We were delighted that Her Royal Highness could make time in her busy schedule to visit us.”
