Apprentice winner celebrates Sparkhouse success
The first winner of BBC Two’s The Apprentice will be speaking at a business event at the University of Lincoln On Thursday 27 March.
Tim Campbell will speak about his experience on The Apprentice and being an entrepreneur, becoming a project director of a subsidiary of Amstrad plc and setting up his own male grooming business and The Bright Ideas Trust, an initiative to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs.
The event is being held to celebrate the success of the Incubation Lincolnshire project, which was supported by Sparkhouse Studios – the University of Lincoln’s business incubation centre.
The £300,000 project was joint funded by the UK authority for the development and support of incubation environments, UK Business Incubation and the University of Lincoln.
The project was set up to support local entrepreneurs from groups that are currently under-represented in new start businesses.
The main aim of the project was to support 25 individuals or businesses for two years. The project offered use of Sparkhouse’s online business support facilities, mentoring, training and access to all networking events.
Sparkhouse will now continue to work with and support the companies and individuals concerned. Four of the entrepreneurs who signed up for Incubation Lincolnshire now have their businesses based at the Sparkhouse centre.
Speakers at the event will also include the University of Lincoln’s Head of Lincoln Business School Professor Ted Fuller, who will welcome visitors, and Head of Enterprise & Employer Engagement Andrew Stevenson. A representative from United Kingdom Business Incubation (UKBI), and Deputy Centre Manager for Sparkhouse Carol Gardiner will also speak.
Andrew Stevenson said: “The University of Lincoln was delighted when it secured this funding from UK Business Incubation. The project has built on the award winning successes of Sparkhouse and has meant that the incubation support it provides has been offered to an even wider group of exciting entrepreneurs.”
Entrepreneurs involved in the project will also be speaking about their experiences.
The event will be held at 10.00am- 12.00pm on Thursday 27 March in the EMMTEC building, University of Lincoln, Brayford Pool Campus. It is invitation only.
