The future’s bright for graduates
Years of hard work have finally paid off for University of Lincoln students who are graduating this week at ceremonies that mark an important transition in their lives.
The traditional graduation ceremonies are taking place at the Lincoln Cathedral from 10-14 September to formally celebrate students’ academic achievements and look forward to their futures.
For many the next step after graduating is to start a career. Marketing & Advertising graduate Emma Peach sets a fantastic example as she is already in a career directly related to her degree.
Emma, who achieved a 2:1 in her studies, is working as a Marketing Officer for Warwickshire College. The role includes general marketing for the college’s commercial day spa, its part-time courses and involvement in employer engagement.
Comparing the position to the work covered in her degree, Emma said: “Aspects of each unit that we studied have come into practice, and this has allowed me to bring forward fresh ideas and ways of thinking.”
“The theory that we studied has created a sturdy base from which creative and innovative ideas can stem.”
Reflecting back on the Marketing & Advertising degree programme at Lincoln, Emma explained: “The breadth of subjects that were covered is a major plus, and that, teamed with the enthusiasm and passion of the lecturers, resulted in a really strong and enjoyable course.”
When considering any future plans or career aspirations she may have, Emma would like to gain as much as she can from her current circumstances before she moves on.
“I am really enjoying where I am, but as time goes on I would like to expand on certain aspects of my job.”
Emma will graduate on Tuesday 11 September at 2.00pm.
