PR STUDENT ACTIVE ON NATIONAL STAGE
A University of Lincoln student will take to the stage at the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) annual ‘Move into PR’ careers day next week.
Stephen Pembroke who is the CIPR’s student representative of the year will address students and graduates on Monday 27th November.
Stephen will talk to over 250 people about the benefits of the CIPR and his experiences of the UK accredited PR course at the University of Lincoln and how it has prepared him for the real world.
Stephen is studying for a BA Honours degree in Public Relations. He is currently on work placement at PR company Ceres in Northampton as a Junior Account Executive. He will return to the University of Lincoln next September to complete his final year of study.
He was awarded the CIPR student representative of the year award for organising a PR ‘speed dating’ event in March 2006. The event gave students the opportunity to talk to lots of employers and PR practitioners about career opportunities and the PR industry.
Stephen said: “My talk will give a student perspective on what I’ve done and how the CIPR’s resources have helped me. I am really looking forward to it as it will give me a great opportunity to stand out.”
Christopher Taylor a senior lecturer in PR at the University of Lincoln said: “It’s great to see Stephen making such valuable contacts in the world beyond university; it can’t help but give him a valuable step up into the world of employment.”
