A leading food scientist from the University of Lincoln has been appointed as an external examiner at a university in Malaysia.
Professor Tony Taylor, Professor in Food Studies at the University of Lincoln since 1992, will help to grade students’ exams in the Faculty of Applied Science at the Universiti Teknologi MARA in Shah Alam, Malaysia.
The appointment “recognises the fact that Professor Taylor has vast experience in the profession and is renowned internationally in this field of study,” according to the Universiti Teknologi MARA.
“It’s a great honour to be appointed as one of very few overseas examiners,” said Professor Taylor.
“The appointment means I will be going out to Malaysia to examine the university’s degree, look at their projects and scrutinise exam papers.”
Professor Taylor joined the university in Grimsby in 1974 and was awarded the Chair of Food Studies at what was then the University of Humberside in 1992.
His major research interests are fish-related and he has travelled extensively to research and teach in south-east Asia, Africa, Europe and the United States.
