Catering staff from the University of Lincoln’s School of Agriculture will receive an award for outstanding food hygiene next month.
The West Lindsey District Council Food Hygiene Award Certificate recognises good practice for food hygiene over and above the legislative requirements of the Environmental Health Office.
The award involves the design and implementation of various documents to prove due diligence and provide evidence of good practice.
These documents include menus with healthy options such as additive free products, low fat or low calorie foods, storage and packaging, temperature monitoring, sickness reporting and monitoring, and cleaning schedules.
“I was really surprised and delighted to hear that we were receiving the award,” said Jo Glasper, Catering and Facilities Manager.
“The credit must go to all the catering and facilities staff at the Riseholme campus, because although the systems are designed and implemented by the management, without the commitment of all the staff we wouldn’t have received the award.”
Receiving the award on behalf of the staff will be chef manager Ian Eassom and catering assistant Victoria Clark who will attend the presentation at Hemswell Court, near Gainsborough, during the evening of Tuesday 30th September.
This award will be the second for Victoria who recently received her NVQ level 2 in Food Preparation and Cooking which she had attended on day release for the last two years.
