The University of Lincoln’s equestrian team gained sweet revenge over their rivals from Bishop Burton College in East Yorkshire on Sunday to maintain their position at the top of their qualifying group.
The Riseholme-based team - Jenni Baxter, Adrian McCloud, Jess Glassow and Becky Davidson - top their group in the BUSA (British Universities Sports Association) equestrian tournament alongside Bishop Burton at the halfway stage of the competition.
Bishop Burton, a renowned land-based science college, beat their Lincoln hosts at Riseholme Park in November so victory in the return match at the weekend was one to savour.
“The result was down to a great team effort, with fantastic support from team trainer Sharon Kirby,” commented team captain Jenni Baxter.
Lincoln can now book themselves a place in the regional finals in February and March with two more top performances when the University of Hull and the University of Nottingham take their turn to host a stage of the tournament.
The national finals will take in Uttoxeter from 8th to 10th April 2003.
