A University of Lincoln lecturer aims to bring Lincolnshire public relations practitioners together in a newly formed PR group.
Frank Davies, senior lecturer in Public Relations at the university and member of the Yorkshire and Lincolnshire group council of the Institute of Public Relations (IPR), is facilitating the Lincolnshire PR Group.
The group’s next meeting is to be held next week when Roy Bentham, Chapter Clerk and Chief Executive at Lincoln Cathedral, will give a lecture on Corporate Social Responsibility.
The lecture will be held from 6.30 – 7.30pm on Thursday 21st March in the Cargill Lecture Theatre, University of Lincoln. Both IPR and non-IPR members are welcome to attend.
Many people in Lincolnshire work in the public relations and communications sector but opportunities for them to meet locally to share ideas and develop the industry are limited.
But Mr Davies intends to change this. “The response so far has been very encouraging and PR practitioners have welcomed events held locally. The recent guided tour of University of Lincoln’s state of the art media studios was a great success,” he commented.
“Students from our Public Relations course are also keen to be involved in local PR activities.
“I have organised a number of meetings for the group over the next couple of months including a trip to the Lincolnshire Life Magazine on Tuesday 24th April which includes a buffet lunch and tour,” said Mr Davies. “Although places at the Lincolnshire Life visit are limited hopefully the other events will attract a strong interest and attendance.”
