A Hull student has just returned from Paris where she spent seven weeks working for Disney’s design company Imagineering.
Sallyann Mason (20) from Willerby, is in the final year of a Museum & Exhibition Design degree at the Hull School of Architecture. She put her design skills to the test when she produced a video for the company’s employees.
The video was based on a new Walt Disney Studios which is being built in Paris and was aimed at giving new employees the background to the studio as part of their training.
“This meant interviewing people at Imagineering, knowing the story lines, editing and adding images to footage,” commented Sallyann, a former Wolfreton High School pupil who went on to study Spatial Design at Hull College before embarking on a degree course.
“Working for such a large company was interesting and a great experience, although it was hard work as I hadn’t done anything like this before,” added Sallyann. “I was lucky to have been given so much responsibility.
“They have asked me back there to work for two months after I graduate next summer which will be great for my CV. Hopefully it will give me a real head start in the design industry.”
Pam Locker, lecturer in Museum and Exhibition Design, commented: “This is the third year running that our students have been on placements with Disney.
“We’re very pleased with the relationship we’ve built with Imagineering. I believe we’re the only course in the UK to do placements there. I know that budgets are tight for many companies but they still managed to take on one of our students,” she added.
