Four media students from the University of Lincoln have set up a film company and are looking for local support.
Fireworks Films is the brainchild of final-year Media Production students Philip Arkinstall, Andy Ellis, Dave Smith and Matt Taylor.
The company brings together their skills in areas such as video production, photography and digital imaging, new media and web design, sound design and DVD authoring.
“In order to achieve our aim of constant improvement in production work, we are looking at different ways of attracting the funding necessary to bring our ideas to the screen,” said Philip Arkinstall.
The budget for their graduation film is £2,000 as it includes a number of ambitious locations and professional actors. The students are able to fund 50% of the costs but are looking for local support to cover the rest.
Contributors will receive credits during the film, which will be entered for next year’s Royal Television Society Awards and film festivals across the country. They even hope to have a mini film festival in Lincoln.
“We want to put Lincoln’s film-making talent on the map,” said Dave Smith. “There is a thriving arts scene in Lincoln and the students want contribute to this.”
