Crowds gathered at Hull’s Odeon cinema in Kingston Park today to view animated films produced by gifted students at the Hull School of Art & Design.
This was the first time that final year BA (Hons) Animation students - tipped to be the animators of the future - were given use of the Odeon Cinema to screen their class of 2001 showreel.
The showreel to be assessed by external examiners next week was a big hit with students and their guests. A wide range of films was shown, from 2D animations to 3D model and computer-generated animations. Some students even took part in their own films!
“It’s great to see work of such high quality in Hull,” said Odeon manager Duncan Scott. “We will definitely be supporting the students again next year.”
“The students were very excited to see their work screened at the Odeon,” added the university’s Head of Animation, Andrew Sugden. “I am extremely impressed with the quality of the work I’ve seen today. I look forward to hearing some very positive news about their careers.”
The students are due to screen their showreel in London during the summer. For further information about BA (Hons) Animation contact the Hull School of Art & Design on 01482 462100.
