Information and Advice for Prospective Students from Italy

As one of the UK’s leading modern universities, students from more than 100 countries apply to the University of Lincoln each year for degree level studies.

To help you prepare, the following information provides guidance on the entrance requirements you will need to meet, alongside further information in support of your application.

University Preparation Courses for International Students

International and EU students who do not meet the minimum undergraduate entry requirements have the opportunity to study a preparation course at the University of Lincoln International Study Centre.

Students can apply for the International Foundation Year, a one-year course that aims to prepare you for the first year of your chosen degree. Students can choose from two subject routes:

● International Foundation Year in Business and Media
● International Foundation Year in Engineering and Computing

Students can also apply for the International Year One, an intensive, one-year course that is the equivalent of the first year of an undergraduate degree. Students can choose from four subject routes:

● International Year One in Business and Management
● International Year One in Computer Science
● International Year One in Engineering
● International Year One in Media Studies

Upon successful completion, students are able to progress to an undergraduate degree at the University of Lincoln.

Entry Requirements

Prospective students from Italy are required to meet the following University of Lincoln entry requirements:

Students who do not meet the minimum undergraduate entry requirements may be eligible for entry onto a Lincoln International Study Centre Foundation or International Year One programme. For more information, please visit the International Study Centre website.

Prospective students require one of the following qualifications for entry into year one of an undergraduate degree:

  • Esame di Stato with a grade of either 75 or 80 depending on the course you are applying for. Some courses may require a specific subject score.
  • International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma with a score of between 27 – 34 points depending on the course applied for. Specific information on IB requirements can be found on the individual course page.

Equivalent qualifications such as the European Baccalaureate can also be considered for entry onto undergraduate programmes.

 

 

Advanced Entry (Undergraduate)

Depending on your academic background and intended course of study, it may be possible to apply for advanced entry into year 2 or 3 of a University of Lincoln undergraduate course.

Postgraduate Taught (e.g. MA/MSc)

Prospective students require a Bachelor degree with a minimum grade of 90. Please note that some courses may require a grade of 104.

Specific information on postgraduate entry requirements can be found on the individual programme page.

For comparison purposes, a grade of 90 is the equivalent of a 2:2 honours degree. A grade of 104 is the equivalent of a 2:1 honours degree.

 

Postgraduate Research (e.g. MPhil/PhD)

Postgraduate Research opportunities at the University of Lincoln range from MRes and MA by Research to MPhil / PhD.  For further information on entry requirements please visit the individual subject pages.

English Language Requirements

Prospective students require IELTS 6.0 (with no less than 5.5 in each band score) or an equivalent qualification. Please note that some courses require a higher score.

Students who do not meet the above English language requirements may be eligible for entry onto a Pre Sessional English and Academic Study Skills (PEASS) course.
