The University of Lincoln is committed to continued participation in the Erasmus+ programme for the 2019/20 academic year. Participation in subsequent years is dependent on the nature of the UK’s withdrawal from the European Union. More information can be found at:

Broaden Your Experiences by Studying Abroad

A number of our degrees include the opportunity to complete a study period in another country. The study placement takes place in the second term of the second year. Students can share classes with local students, allowing them the chance to examine the nature of their chosen subject area in their host country, as well as to socialise in another culture.

To study abroad as an exchange student, either through Erasmus+ or via an international exchange programme you must:

  • Study in a School or on a programme which has a link with an international partner institution
  • Be registered at the University as an undergraduate, postgraduate or doctoral student
  • Have successfully completed your first year of undergraduate study
  • Have sufficient academic and linguistic ability (where necessary) to be able to benefit from a period of study abroad
  • Be nominated by your School to take part in the scheme.

The University of Lincoln does not charge tuition fees to students studying a year abroad at another institution or undertaking a full year placement on a not for credit basis.

The Erasmus+ programme enables students to study or carry out a work placement for between three and twelve months in one of 32 European countries as part of their degree course. Over two million students have already taken part in the programme and have experienced the excitement of living abroad.

As a University of Lincoln student you can study as an outgoing student at one of our partner institutions. We also welcome applications from incoming Erasmus+ students studying with those partners.

The best thing about the Erasmus exchange is the new people you get to meet and the new places you get to see! I made a lot of lifelong friends and we travelled quite frequently to the neighbouring cities and countries.

Having the opportunity to study on the Erasmus+ programme has been so incredible and amazing. It has been an experience that I have learned so much from and will never forget.
