New Full-Time Postgraduate Taught Students

Getting Started and Enrolment

Congratulations on securing your place to study with us at the University of Lincoln. This page aims to provide all of the key information that you will need to formally enrol.

Enrolment is the formal process through which you officially join the University. When you enrol, you confirm your agreement to become a student at Lincoln, to abide by University regulations and to become liable for fee payments, as well as agree to having your personal details checked. All students must enrol at the beginning of each year of study. After you enrol, you will be given your student ID card, which grants you access to University facilities, such as the Library.

Before You Arrive

Before you arrive, there are a few important tasks for you to complete to help ensure your first week goes as smoothly as possible, leaving you more time to concentrate on settling in, making new friends, and getting to know your course.

Step 1

First of all, you will need to log on to ‘Blackboard’. Blackboard is our Virtual Learning Environment and you will use this throughout your time as a student at the University of Lincoln. You will find a Getting Started Guide enclosed in your Welcome Pack. Follow the instructions in this leaflet to check and update your personal details.

If your course has optional modules, you can choose the ones you will study from a list on Blackboard during Step 1 of the enrolment process. If you do not have this information now, please contact your School Administrator to select your modules. You will need to confirm the modules you are studying from September for the academic year. We would ask that you do this before you come to enrol.

Step 2

You are also required to upload a photo to the Getting Started section of Blackboard so that we can produce your ID card in advance, ready for you to collect after your Introduction Talk.

After completing these steps you will be able to access the Getting Started generic and programme level resources. Programme level resources are in a Getting Started School site. Your password will be the same one you have used to access your Blackboard homepage when you checked your personal details.

What to Bring with You to Enrolment

You will have received the following documentation by post:

  • Getting Started leaflet
  • Students' Union Membership Information
  • Funding Flyer

You will need to bring the following items with you to ensure a speedy enrolment:

• Enrolment ticket
• A form of photo ID, either your passport, provisional or full driving licence or your CitizenCard. EU/EEA students are required to bring their passport.
