Information and advice for prospective students from Norway

As one of the UK’s leading modern universities, students from more than 100 countries apply to the University of Lincoln each year for degree level studies.

To help you prepare, the following information provides guidance on the entrance requirements you will need to meet, alongside further information in support of your application.


Entry Requirements

Prospective students from Norway are required to meet the following University of Lincoln entrance requirements:

Foundation Entry

For further information on Foundation and International Year 1 entry requirements, please visit the International Study Centre website.

Undergraduate Entry

Students require one of the following qualifications:

  • Vitnemål fra den Videregaende Skole with an average grade of VVO 3.5 - 4 depending on the intended course of study. As an example, prospective students wishing to apply for an Art or Design course may be accepted with an average of VVO 3.5 if supported by a strong portfolio
  • Successful completion of a recognised International Foundation Course
  • Between 27 and 34 International Baccalaureate (IB) points depending on the course you wish to apply for.

a minimum of 4.0 overall in VVO

128 UCAS Tariff points (ABB)

a minimum of 4.5 overall in VVO

 

Subject specific grades

C (32 UCAS Tariff points) = 4.0

B (40 UCAS Tariff points) = 5.0

Advanced Entry (Undergraduate)

Depending on your academic background and intended course of study, it may be possible to apply for advanced entry into year two or three of an undergraduate course. For more information, please contact the International Admissions team: intadmissions@lincoln.ac.uk.

Postgraduate Entry

Masters

Entry requirements for postgraduate (master degree) programmes vary by course although we typically require a minimum Grade C in the Norwegian Bachelor degree. Please refer to the individual postgraduate programme pages for more detailed information regarding entry requirements.

For comparison purposes, programmes requiring a 2:1 Bachelor degree require a grade B in the Norwegian Bachelor degree. Programmes requiring a 2:2 Bachelor degree require a grade C in the Norwegian Bachelor degree.

PhD

Successful completion of a Masters Degree

English Language Requirements

Prospective students require one of the following qualifications:

  • Vitnemål English Language with a minimum grade of VVO4
  • IELTS 6.0 (with no less than 5.5 in each band score) or equivalent. Please note that some courses require a higher score.

Students who do not meet the above English language requirements may be eligible for entry onto a Pre Sessional English and Academic Study Skills (PEASS) course.

Fees and Funding

Tuition Fees

University of Lincoln students are required to pay tuition fees for each year of their course. Further information regarding tuition fees, fee status and how to pay can be found on our International Tuition Fees page.

Scholarships

Each year, we are delighted to award a number of scholarships to academically gifted students from across Norway. Depending on your academic ability and intended programme of study, there are a range of scholarships which may be available.

For 2018/19, the following scholarships are available to suitably qualified students from Norway:


Undergraduate Scholarships

  • £2,000 Undergraduate Scholarships available to students enrolling onto the first year of an undergraduate degree*
  • £1,000 Scholarships available to students entering onto an undergraduate final year ‘top up’ programme (e.g. year 3 entry)*

 

Postgraduate Scholarships

  • £2,000 Global Merit Scholarships available to students enrolling onto a postgraduate (taught or masters by research) programme with a minimum GPA of 6.5 (or equivalent)*
  • £5,000 Academic Excellence Scholarships**

*This is an automatic scholarship which will be awarded to you if you meet the requirements.

**A scholarship application must be submitted in order to apply for the scholarship
