About the course
Pre-sessional courses are specialist courses which prepare international students for study in UK higher education.
As an international student it can take some time to adjust your English language skills to a new environment, so here at the University of Lincoln we deliver a Pre-sessional English and Academic Study Skills programme (PEASS) for international students.
Our PEASS courses are designed to help students:
- meet the minimum language requirements required for their academic course
- adapt to an unfamiliar academic culture in order to succeed in UK higher education
- encourage students to use academic English effectively in speech and writing
- work independently during their studies.
The PEASS course includes 18-20 hours of teaching per week. Students will also be expected to supplement this with additional study in your own time.
First of all, you must attend 100% of the PEASS course to pass. This means that you must attend all the lessons and complete all the work we give to you during the course. Unfortunately we are unable to accept any late arrivals for the course, so please ensure that you apply for the course well in advance.
We use a combination of work you do throughout the course and assessments to monitor your progress. These assessments will be based on your reading, writing, speaking and listening skills and will take place towards the end of the course. You will be given clear guidance throughout the course to prepare you for these assessments.
You can contact us in the following ways if you have any questions about the PEASS courses.
