Centre for Architectural Research

Research in the School of Architecture and Design is undertaken through research groups and clusters. There are two research groupings: Sustainable Architecture and Habitat. These clusters are communities of interest directed by experienced researchers who collaborate with colleagues across the School and University who share similar research concerns. This creates a vibrant research environment where the focus of activity is continuously reviewed and new clusters emerge in response to the wide-ranging interests and expertise of staff. Research groups are engaged in producing high-impact research based on collaboration with communities and design/construction industries achieved through interdisciplinary, theoretical and practice-based research and consultancy activities. The School has been instrumental in forging links with external organisations, both regional, national and international to enhance its research reputation and impact.
