Biography
I joined the School of Sport, Coaching, and Exercise Science as a visiting Lecturer in September 2008. Previously, I worked at Lincoln College (teaching on Nottingham Trent University Programmes) from 2004-2006. In addition to my responsibilities at the University, I have coached two junior badminton players on BADMINTON England’s U17 and U19 World Class Potential Programme (WCPP). I currently work with 4 players and spend most of my spare time attending tournaments throughout the UK.
Research
My research interests lie primarily within an analysis context, specifically performance analysis of elite badminton players, with a subsidiary interest in movement patterns and hitting techniques (biomechanics). I also have a keen interest in the mentoring of coaches to guide them along their coaching pathways. From a technical perspective, the validity and reliability of sports science equipment as well as the innovation of new technological equipment for sport is another area of interest.
Teaching Areas
Provide technical expertise to staff and students as
required. Maintain a safe working environment within the Human
Performance Centre, specifically the laboratories and equipment.
Control and monitor the laboratory and equipment booking
systems. Perform regular calibration checks to preserve validity
and reliability in a curriculum and research setting.
Occasionally guest lecture on both the BSc Sport & Exercise
Science and Sport, Development & Coaching programmes. Main areas
of theoretical knowledge are performance analysis, allied with
practical knowledge within the fields of biomechanics and
physiology.
