Research - School of Health and Social Care

Introduction

We are currently undertaking high quality health research in a number of areas at local, national and international levels. A central theme of the research activity within the school is translational research relating to quality improvement in health and social care. We use a range of methods to investigate aspects of the quality of health and social care, to determine how to improve care provision and to evaluate the effects of interventions designed to bring about improvement. We have active collaborations with other faculties and other UK universities.

Our research is focused in the following areas:

  • Quality improvement in health and social care
  • Mental health and criminal justice
  • Primary care
  • Prehospital and emergency care
  • Community health and health services: sexual and reproductive health, diversity
  • Healthcare workforce innovation, leadership and professional regulation
  • Education for health and social care professionals working with elderly, children and families
