Nick LockeSenior Lecturer and Course Leader of BSc (Hons) Equine Sports ScienceNick is a BHSI with a background of many years in the equine industry. He has a particular interest in the production and training of sports horses and the training of competition riders for all disciplines. He has competed in the three main equestrian disciplines of Dressage, Show Jumping and Eventing and still owns several competition horses. He also helps riders prepare for competition and BHS examinations. His research interests include Horse / Rider communication, bit and mouth problems in horses, training competition horses and riders and the production of sports horses. Nick is also a panel judge for the Irish draught horse society and the Cleveland Bay horse society

Amy RichardsonEquine Yard Manager
Amy started employment with the University in 1992 as a Yard Supervisor, when the Lincolnshire College of Agriculture and Horticulture was based at Caythorpe near Grantham. Previous to this she worked in a hunting/livery yard and has taught for various pony clubs. In her youth she was an active member of the Burghley Pony Club. Amy is pictured here riding Borderfame Prince Charming who is the sire to the University's current homebred Cleveland Bay stallion Lindon Principal.

Rachel BuckleyEquine Yard ManagerRachael has worked in the equine industry for twenty years, and first qualified as an Assistant Instructor at the age of eighteen. She ran her own livery and training yard for eleven years. Rachael has competed successfully at most disciplines and was the Chief Instructor of the Grove Hunt Pony Club for twelve years. During that time she attained her BHS stage four riding and stable management. For the past six years, Rachael has worked in the college environment as an Equine Instructor and NVQ Assessor.

Amy BaylisSenior Technical Instructor
Amy has worked at the university since 2006, and before worked at a number of yards, including a stint at Liphook Equine Hospital as a yard nurse, and then as Assistant Instructor and Yard Manager at an all-girls boarding school. Amy’s interest lies within show jumping and she has competed BSJA, but also has competed BE PN level. She has currently bringing on a five year old TB to compete in both eventing and showjumping.

Emily WilliamsStud Groom
Emily specialises in dressage and has produced one of her own horses to Prix St George level as well as having many other successes in the dressage arena. Emily specialises in reproductive physiology and runs the University’s small stud unit, in which she shows the youngsters and the stallion.

Vicki LockeSubject Leader Animal and Equine

Rosie NewsamVocational Instructor and Assessor
Rosie broke and schooled on young horses to compete at British Eventing One and Three Day Events. She has had many wins and places from Novice to Advanced level including 4th and 7th at Osberton 2 star Three Day Event. Rosie has also competed successfully at British Dressage Elementary Level and BSJA newcomers. Rosie runs her own livery yard and has been Chief Instructor of Burton Hunt Pony Club for ten years where she has successfully trained students to Pony Club A test level. She previously lectured at another local college on an outreach programme, training students to NVQ level 3 and BHS Stage 4.

Caroline PeatfieldVocational Instructor and Assessor
Caroline has competed regularly at BE (to Advanced level), BSJA and BD. She is Chief Instructor for Brocklesby Hunt Branch of the Pony Club, Pony Club Examiner, and on Pony Club Panel of Approved Visiting Instructors. Caroline is now a British Eventing Accredited Coach, having recently attended an assessment day with Yogi Breisner, who is British Eventings Performance Manager/Senior Team Coach.
