John Pilger will join speakers at LSJ Presents... Acclaimed author and PR professional Liz Brewer will discuss her time working with some of the world’s most famous faces in the first of a series of free public lectures from the University of Lincoln’s School of Journalism.

LSJ Presents… will bring the leading lights of the media industry to Lincoln to share their experience and expertise with audiences in a run of revealing weekly talks.

An evening with Liz Brewer will launch the new event programme on Monday 14th October 2013, and will take place in the Cargill Lecture Theatre at the University of Lincoln.

In a career spanning five decades, Liz Brewer has worked as a PR representative with some of the world’s most recognisable celebrities, including Dame Shirley Bassey, Ivana Trump, Pierce Brosnan and Richard Branson. Liz is also the former editor of Tatler magazine, and recently she has become one of the UK’s leading etiquette experts, starring in ITV’s Ladette to Lady and writing the best-selling Ultimate Guide to Party Planning and Etiquette.

Alex Lewczuk, organiser of the series and Senior Lecturer at the University of Lincoln’s School of Journalism, said: “With our new programme, we have again looked to provide a wide variety of speakers from the worlds of journalism and public relations. Each of these has achieved significant and fascinating goals in their careers, and they are now happy to share their experiences with our current students, staff and friends at the University of Lincoln.”

Liz Brewer’s presentation will be followed by six further public lectures, set to be delivered by a number of media luminaries, including Paul Money, Reviews Editor for the BBC’s Sky At Night magazine (21st October), and Richard Fitzwilliams, the former editor of International Who’s Who and a regular correspondent for 5 Live, CNN, Al-Jazeera and Royal Matters (28th October).

On Monday 4th November, the editor of Waitrose Food and author of A History of Food in 100 Recipes, William Sitwell, will visit Lincoln to discuss lifestyle and culinary journalism, and on Monday 11th November, the series will present ‘The PR Continuum’ with Camilla Harrison and Shelagh Jones.

Former News Editor and Chief Reporter at the News of the World, Neville Thurlbeck, will then take to the stage a week later to discuss his 21-year role as an investigative tabloid journalist for News International, before Professor Richard Keeble hosts the term’s closing session with award-winning war correspondent John Pilger on Monday 25th November.

John Pilger has reported from all over the world, covering numerous wars including Vietnam, and in an esteemed career, was the first person to win Britain’s highest award for journalism, Journalist of the Year, twice.

The public lecture programme is free to attend, and the talks will take place from 6:15pm in the Cargill Lecture Theatre, in the Main Administration Building at the University of Lincoln’s Brayford Pool Campus.
