Lincoln Young Company to perform at National Theatre
The Lincoln Young Company perform A talented youth theatre group from the University of Lincoln is celebrating after being selected to perform at the prestigious National Theatre.

The Lincoln Young Company, which is made up of undergraduate students from the University of Lincolnís School of Performing Arts, will walk the boards at the national Connections festival after being named as part of the bill.

After competing against 220 other school and youth theatre groups across the country, the Lincoln Young Company is one of just ten companies selected to appear at the festival. They will perform Iím Spilling My Heart Out Here by award-winning playwright Stacey Gregg on Saturday 6th July 2013 at The Shed, in Londonís National Theatre.

The company, which is based at Lincoln Performing Arts Centre on the University of Lincolnís Brayford Pool Campus, takes its place in the line-up after a successful performance of the play at Sheffield Crucible Theatre in March this year.

The project is being led by Martyn Horner-Glister, a graduate of the University of Lincolnís School of Performing Arts and Director at the Lincoln Young Company.

He said:  ďWe are absolutely delighted to have been invited to perform at the National Theatre in London, and it will be an honour to perform at such a great venue. We are all extremely excited to have this wonderful opportunity to take part in the festival, particularly as it provides such a great platform for us to put Lincoln on the map as a key location for performing arts.Ē

The Lincoln Young Company will perform alongside nine other finalists as part of the Connections Festival. The event, which runs from Wednesday 3rd - Monday 8th July 2013, is the theatreís annual flagship festival for new plays and young performers.

It champions new talent and invites emerging youth theatre groups to present original plays from some of Britainís most influential playwrights. This year, work from leading playwrights Lenny Henry, Howard Brenton, Jim Cartwright and Lucinda Coxon will also be performed.
