Undergraduates aiming to be top of the class for Management students across UK
Business students from the University of Lincoln Two business-minded students from the University of Lincoln have made it into the final ten of the national Undergraduate of the Year Awards.

Luke Hamilton and Jessie Hancox, who are both in the second year of the BA (Hons) Business programme at Lincoln Business School, entered the competition in September 2012.

They are both competing in The Management Undergraduate of the Year award, sponsored by Enterprise Rent-A-Car.

The TARGETjobs Undergraduate of the Year Awards launched four years ago and has grown to feature 12 awards. More than 4,000 students from over 100 different universities entered last year’s competition.

Both Luke and Jessie had to pass several stages of the competition to be shortlisted, including online tests and telephone interviews. From there, they progressed to the final 25, where they were invited to spend the day in Birmingham at an assessment centre on 19th March.

At the assessment day Luke and Jessie took part in individual and group challenges over the course of six hours. They were asked to take part in a morning pitch, a one-to-one interview, and a team meeting, as well as numerous networking events.

Luke said the assessment had been challenging but was an experience he valued. He said: “I was really proud to represent the University at the assessment day. One of the assessors from London spoke to me about Lincoln and said he had heard a lot of great things about us recently, in particular around the Student as Producer project.

“Both myself and Jessie are really proud that for the first time, students from Lincoln have made it into the top ten of the competition.”

Paula O’Brien, Programme Leader for Business & Management at the University of Lincoln’s Business School, said: “Jessie and Luke are students who are prepared to go the extra mile, and this award represents a fantastic opportunity for them.

“The Business School attracts top class business students and I wish them every success.”

The winners of the TARGETjobs Undergraduate of the Year Awards will be announced in Canary Wharf in London on the 19th April at a gala dinner presented by Sir Trevor McDonald.
