The Tiger Who Came To Tea, illustration Live stage adaptations of some of the best-loved children’s books of all time are coming to the Lincoln Performing Arts Centre.

The venue on the University of Lincoln’s Brayford campus is delighted to announce theatrical productions of The Tiger Who Came To Tea and We’re Going On A Bear Hunt will be arriving this year.

Based on the award-winning picture book by Judith Kerr, The Tiger Who Came To Tea is a delightful family show packed with fun for children and grown-ups.

It is based on one of the best-selling and best-loved children’s picture books of all time. Since the book was first published in 1968, it has sold more than four million copies worldwide and has been translated into more than 20 languages.

The much-loved tale has been adapted for the stage with songs and lyrics by David Wood OBE – the country’s leading writer and director of plays and musicals for children. His many successes include Fantastic Mr Fox, The Gingerbread Man, BFG, The Witches, Meg and Mog, Spot and Babe the Sheep Pig.

The show is the ideal introduction to theatre for pre and primary school children and their families. Featuring magic and sing-along songs, it is great for developing literacy and listening skills – and audience participation is highly encouraged.

The Tiger Who Came To Tea will be on stage at the LPAC from Wednesday 5 August – Sunday 9 August.

The entertainment returns this winter when another hit family show, We’re Going On A Bear Hunt, comes to the LPAC from 15-24 December.

Direct from London’s West End, this fun-filled adaptation offers a dramatic new dimension to Michael Rosen’s much-loved story.

Full of rhythm, repetition and onomatopoeia, We’re Going On A Bear Hunt celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2009 and has been praised for its ability to engage and entertain young children of all learning abilities.

Victoria Simpson, spokesperson for the Lincoln Performing Arts Centre, said: “We are thrilled to be able to welcome two such celebrated stage adaptations to the Lincoln Performing Arts Centre. Children and adults alike have enjoyed these fantastic and well-loved stories so to see them acted in the flesh will be a great adventure for young and old.”

Tickets for both shows cost £9 each or £32 for a family ticket (four people). Discounts are available for group bookings of 10 or more (equivalent to £7 per ticket).

There is no lower age limit for the shows, although they are best suited for children aged three and above.
