New Chartered Institute of Marketing group to launch
New Chartered Institute of Marketing group to launch The University of Lincoln will host the first meeting of Lincolnshire’s new Chartered Institute of Marketing group on Thursday 29 January 2009.

The Chartered Institute of Marketing’s (CIM) East Midlands region is starting the group for marketers and business people in the county. It promises to deliver not only quality marketing events but also the chance to network with like-minded individuals.

The meetings will be open to CIM members and non-members including marketers of all levels, business owners and managers, and students.

The group has been set up by Lincolnshire-based businessman Barrie Pierpoint, who is well known for his time as chief executive of Leicester City Football Club, the University’s Head of Marketing, Richard Huthwaite, and Burton & Dyson’s marketing manager, Michelle Mortimer.

Barrie is a Fellow of the CIM and was chairman of the Institute’s Leicester branch for five years.

He said: “In the current economic climate, marketers are under increasing scrutiny as they steer their organisations through what is for some unchartered waters.

“The Chartered Institute of Marketing’s East Midlands region recognises that it is vital to support marketers with expert advice and ideas at all times when help may be needed. We look forward to meeting the marketers of Lincolnshire and creating a useful resource.”

The CIM is the leading international professional marketing body with 47,000 members worldwide. First established in 1911 it has for almost a century defined the marketing standards that operate in the UK and is the global champion of best marketing practice. The Institute exists to develop the marketing profession, maintain professional standards and improve the skills of marketing practitioners.

The first meeting of the new group will be held at the University on Thursday 29 January at 6pm in the main administration building on the Brayford Pool Campus. The open meeting will give marketers and business people the chance to shape the group and influence the topics covered and speakers invited.
