Top blogger to teach down under

A University of Lincoln BA (Honours) Journalism student is jetting off to New Zealand after the success of his online blog gave him the chance to teach there.

Dave Lee is a final year student at the University of Lincoln and set up his online blog, jblog, during his first year.

He has been described by former Daily Mirror editor and national media commentator for The Guardian Professor Roy Greenslade as "probably Britain’s leading student blogger" and is set to inspire New Zealand students with his success and blogging knowledge.

Dave will teach online journalism at Whitireia Community Polytechnic's School of Journalism in May. He will also tour the country giving talks at universities and schools.

His blog gives points of view of the mass media, which he decided to write after reading blogs by other journalists. He said: "I found myself leaving lengthy comments on other sites; it seemed a natural progression to start my own."

Principal Lecturer in Journalism Deborah Wilson commented: "Dave is an inspiration to both his fellow students and his tutors – he has already been published in The Guardian, has launched the student newspaper The Linc, is the Press Gazette’s student blogger and has been headhunted from New Zealand, all before he graduates. I can’t wait to see what he will be doing in five years’ time."

Dave’s blog can be found at www.dave-lee.org/jblog/
