East meets West

The British Ambassador for Russia spoke to students at the University of Lincoln recently.

Anthony Brenton came to speak to BA (Honours) International Relations students, who study relationships between the world’s national governments, including their economics, politics, security and history.

Students also had the opportunity to listen to the Ambassador speak about Russia’s history and how it has impacted upon the country. He emphasised how history has affected Russia’s relations with the rest of the world.

The Ambassador was also asked a range of questions, about the current Russian elections, dealing with Russian history and politics, Britain’s relations with Russia, and his advice about joining the diplomatic service.

Professor of Public Policy Hugh Bochel said: “The Ambassador’s visit was really valuable to our students, providing them with a diplomat’s view of Russia and its history. Anthony’s visit enabled students to gain some understanding of the role of a senior diplomat.”
