MEDIA STUDENT CANNES DO IT

It’s a double celebration this week for a talented University of Lincoln student as her work is displayed at the Cannes Film Festival and showcased at her end of year show here in Lincoln.

Rea Mulligan, a final year Media Production student, produced the photographic stills for the production Daddy’s Girl which has gone to Cannes. The production was directed by Marcella Forster, a script writer and Media Production lecturer at the University of Lincoln.

Rea said: “It was one of those things that you say yes to without realising just how big it’s going to be. I had never worked on a film set before and so it was really great to work with directors and professionals and see how it is all done.

“I really enjoyed doing the photography and it was amazing to see the film when it was all put together. The whole thing was a great experience and I learnt loads.”

Rea’s work will also appear at the Media Production degree show taking place on Friday 25th May. Students will showcase a variety of work, including short films, drama documentaries, radio dramas and features, photography images and new media.

Mark Bellham, a photographer and Senior Lecturer in Media Production, said: “There has been a real diversity of work produced this semester at level three.

“This work ranges from communicating the experience of the modern city through sound and image, the depiction of religious centres in urban areas, the fashion image, an abstract exploration of the human body to a reflection on circus artworks.”

Everyone is welcome to attend. The show will take place from 11.00 am to 4.00 pm and will be held in lecture rooms in the Main Academic Building and the second floor of the MHAC building, Brayford campus.
