A University of Lincoln graduate has landed on his feet after winning a prestigious furniture design award and getting his dream job.

Andrew Berry won the Cabinet Maker Young Designer of the Year Award out of a massive 78 graduate entries for the design of a piece of furniture he had created called the Tri-curve Easy Chair.

His unique design of a chair was exhibited at the UK’s largest interiors exhibition at the Birmingham NEC along with 11 other finalists.

Andrew said: “There were some excellent entries to the competition, so I was particularly pleased to have won. This has confirmed to me that I made the right decisions about taking the degree course and I’m very excited about continuing my career in furniture design.”

Andrew achieved a first in BA (Hons) Furniture and graduated from the university in September 2006.

He has recently started working as a designer for Benchmark Woodworking in West Berkshire. Benchmark designs, makes and installs furniture and fittings for offices, restaurants, bars, hotels and private homes, as well as retailing a collection of furniture by leading designers which is handmade by craftsmen at the workshop.

Andrew also has his own website where the range of his designs can be seen. Visit www.andrewberryfurniture.co.uk to find out more about Andrew.
