8th January 2007

The new pedestrian bridge linking the university and the city across the river Witham is to be officially opened at the end of this month.

The university’s Chancellor, Dame Elizabeth Esteve-Coll, will perform the official opening ceremony at 12.30pm on Monday 29th January 2007.

A number of VIP guests will be invited to watch the Chancellor cut a ribbon to declare the bridge open.

The bridge will link the Brayford Pool campus with Brayford Wharf East and form a new gateway from the university to the city of Lincoln.

It will improve access to the Great Central Warehouse Library and the Engine Shed student centre.

The bridge has been designed as an extension of the new urban square which will be central to the university’s new 24/7 quad.

Following the official opening invited guests will be able to view plans for the new Lincoln School of Performing Arts in the context of its setting within the new 24/7 quad.

Reporters and photographers are welcome to attend the official opening – please call 01522 837294 to make the arrangements.
