The BBC’s very own leading sports presenter John Inverdale will perform the opening ceremony of the University of Lincoln’s Human Performance Centre.

The Human Performance Centre will be officially opened on Wednesday 29th November.

John Inverdale started his career with the Lincolnshire Echo as a reporter. In 1982 he moved to BBC Radio Lincolnshire, and then in 1985 he went to the sports department of BBC Radio 2.

Since then John has worked as a presenter for BBC Radio Five Live, presenting coverage of many major sporting events, including Wimbledon, the Olympic Games, the Ryder Cup and the football and rugby World Cups.

The Human Performance Centre will provide a regional facility for excellence in sport, coaching and exercise science. Its state of the art facilities provide laboratory and field testing, an analysis suite and a consultation room.

Cathy Thomas, acting Head of Sport said: “We are delighted that John Inverdale is coming to open our new Human Performance Centre. This is an outstanding facility which will not only provide a first class teaching environment for our sports science students, but will enable staff to engage in consultancy in the wider community.”

Student demonstrations will start the event at 11.00am and then at 12.00pm John Inverdale will perform the opening ceremony. Light refreshments will follow.
