Around 2,400 students will graduate from the University of Lincoln at Lincoln Cathedral next week.


The university is to stage seven awards ceremonies at the cathedral from Monday 11th until Thursday 14th September.


Students from all five faculties – Art, Architecture and Design, Business and Law, Health, Life and Social Sciences, Media and Humanities and Technology –

will be celebrating the successful completion of their studies.


The university will also be bestowing honorary doctorates on seven people who have made a significant contribution in their field.


Honorary doctorates will be presented to:


·                    Professor Tony Jones CBE, President of the School of Art Institute of


·                    Tony Sale, founder and original curator of the Bletchley Park Museum

·                    Denis Turner, Chief Economist of HSBC Bank

·                    Professor Oleg Eremin, Consultant Surgeon at the United Lincolnshire

Hospitals Trust

·                    Dr Muriel Robinson, Principal of Bishop Grosseteste College

·                    Barry Spikings, Oscar-winning film producer

·                    John Inverdale, BBC sports presenter


Our annual awards ceremonies are a terrific opportunity to celebrate student achievement and to recognise the outstanding contribution made by certain individuals,” said university spokesman Jez Ashberry.


“The ceremonies are the highlight of the academic year and everyone at the university is looking forward to another memorable week.”
