Five of the awards have been sponsored by local businesses. These are Propeller TV (Sky Channel 195) which is sponsoring the Moving Image Award, Eon Media which is sponsoring the Multimedia Award, BBC Raw Talent which is sponsoring the Audio Award and Interactive Social Media which is sponsoring the Interactive Social Media Award.
This is the first year that the university has held an awards ceremony. Organiser and lecturer in Media Technologies John Hamlin said it will give the students a chance to show off their talents.
Im very happy that so many businesses have come forward to support the university by sponsoring an award. Having their name linked to the prizes gives winning students added value to their degree, said John.
It takes our students work outside of the university and into a professional context which I hope will open up further employment opportunities.
