SIREN LISTENERS TUNE INTO SMART IDEA

Student radio station Siren FM is offering listeners the chance to win a crate of beer by spotting the Siren Smart car which will be parked up at a different location in Lincoln every day during the Breakfast show from 6.30 – 9am.

This year for the first time ever Siren FM has teamed up with Mercedes-Benz of Lincoln and the Listers Group.

The dealership is sponsoring the stations’ breakfast show and has loaned the station a sign-written Smart car which the students are using as a marketing tool to raise the profile of Siren FM.

Every week day during the breakfast show listeners can text or ring presenter Lawrence McNab if they spot the Breakfast Smart car and win themselves a crate of beer.

Siren’s Webcast Controller Philip Hawkins said the support they’ve received from Mercedes-Benz of Lincoln has been invaluable to the success of this years’ broadcast.

“We approached Mercedes-Benz of Lincoln as they have sponsored events at the University of Lincoln in the past. We’re really grateful to them for helping to promote Siren FM and hope to work more closely with them in the future.

“We’ve been driving the sign-written Smart car around Lincoln which has generated lots of publicity for the station and the university.

“Siren is into its second week now and so far we’ve had a great response from our listeners.”

Siren FM broadcasts to an average of 20,000 people in the Lincoln area for three weeks a year and is currently on air until Monday 8th May.

The station has recently been awarded a community radio licence which in the future will allow it to broadcast for 365 days a year. Tune in to SIREN FM on 87.7FM or listen via the web at www.sirenonline.co.uk.
