Students at the University of Lincoln are being warned: if you want to succeed at Dodegball you need to remember the five D’s Dodge, Duck, Dip, Dive and Donate!

That is the message from the University of Lincoln’s Athletic Union, which has invited the union’s many clubs and societies to go head to head on the dodgeball court to raise money for charity.

On Wednesday 15th February 24 teams will be hurling balls at each other in order to raise hundreds of pounds for charity as part of the Students’ Union RAG (Raise and Give) Week.

To add to the spectator’s enjoyment the players will compete in fancy dress.

Among the teams taking part in the competition are the Alternative Music Society whose members will be sporting fairy costumes, the Rugby Union club which has decided on a pirate theme and the women’s football team who will be dressing up as superheroes.

The group stages of the competition get under way at 2.30pm in the university’s Sports and Recreation Centre with the grand final scheduled for around 6.45pm.

The fundraising will continue well into the night with a post-tournament presentation evening planned at the Students’ Union Delph Bar.

“It should be a good day all round,” enthused AU President Glen Wilson. “It is a chance for a wide variety of our clubs and societies who don’t normally come together to get to know each other and have fun all in the name of charity.”
