LATEST IN ARCHITECTURE LECTURE SERIES

London-based architect Jason Parker is to give the latest in a series of guest lectures at the Lincoln School of Architecture next week.

Mr Parker is Project Director at make architects and will speak at the University of Lincoln at 6.30pm on Tuesday 29th November.

His interest in three-dimensional form began with an early obsession with Lego, preferring his own inventions to those with instructions created by Lego. This inventive streak has continued to serve him well throughout his career.

Choosing to study architecture at Portsmouth gave him the opportunity to travel to the US to study at the University of Cincinnati. The quality of education at both institutions was high and he gained a degree and a diploma with distinction.

Studying in the US also gave Mr Parker the chance to explore and to work abroad, first in New York and then in Sydney, where he worked for Malone Buchan Ednie-Brown as part of a project team for a $120 million retail development.

In New York, he worked for Gensler Associates on interior space planning and refurbishment work for Manhattan law, management and financial institutions.

He has worked on a 30-storey headquarters for German insurer ARAG in Dusseldorf, a landmark building for the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre in Glasgow and the Vienna ‘Eurogate’ project, a masterplan mixed use development in the east of the Austrian capital.

He also played a major role in the initial design and concept development of the Swiss Re headquarters building in London and led the design team through concept and development of the London City Racecourse project, the first new racecourse in the UK for 100 years.

He is an active supporter of the Architects Benevolent Society and joined make architects in February 2004.

Members of the public are welcome to attend the lecture, which will take place in room AR0107 in the Lincoln School of Architecture building, and admission is free.
