GRADUATE INITIATIVE SET TO BOOST LOCAL ECONOMY

(Interview/photograph opportunity)

An exciting new initiative bringing together students, graduates and businesses in the East Midlands is being launched at the University of Lincoln next week (Wednesday).

Members of the media in Lincolnshire are being invited to an informal breakfast gathering at the university’s Sparkhouse Studios at 9am on Wednesday 30th November for the launch of graddtobusiness.

Borne out of an economic need to increase productivity and raise GDP in the East Midlands, graddtobusiness is an online resource developed specifically to help small and medium sized firms access to the skilled workforce currently being produced by universities and colleges across the region.

Retention of a more highly skilled workforce is seen as a key driver for greater productivity and GDP in the East Midlands with increased SME participation central to its success.

graddtobusiness has been developed by Nottingham-based STEP Enterprise Limited and backed by £1million from East Midlands Development Agency (emda) over the next three years.

The website, www.graddtobusiness.org.uk, provides a single information point to the range of programmes available to small and medium sized firms in Lincolnshire and the rest of the East Midlands.

In addition www.graddtobusiness.org.uk offers businesses across Lincolnshire a free service advertising any graduate job and placement opportunities they may have to the 75,000 students in Higher Education across the East Midlands.

Also present at the launch on Wednesday will be representatives from emda, the Chamber of Commerce, Business Links, STEP Enterprise and the University of Lincoln.
