NEW DIRECTOR FOR EDUCATION CENTRE

Professor David Scott, Former Deputy Director of the University of Lincoln’s International Institute of Educational Leadership, has been promoted to Director.

Fergus O’Sullivan, who was the founding Director of the institute, is handing over the reins to Professor Scott to allow him to focus on his research and forthcoming publications.

Professor Scott began his career as a schoolteacher at Halyard High School in Bedfordshire. Since then, he has enjoyed a lengthy career in education. His roles include Research Fellow at the Centre for Educational Development, Appraisal and Research, University of Warwick and Lecturer in Educational Research Methods and Co-ordinator of the Doctoral Studies programmes, University of London.

Speaking of his promotion Professor Scott said: “I am taking over from Fergus O'Sullivan who was in this post for five and a half years, and who established the institute as one of the most prestigious and influential education leadership centres in the UK and round the world.

“My task therefore is to maintain the standing of the Institute here and abroad, and continue to develop the institute as a vibrant centre for the study of education leadership.”

Mr O’Sullivan, as Associate Director, will be assisting Professor Scott in the transition period.

Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Mike Saks said: “I would like to thank Fergus for all the hard work he has undertaken in developing the International Institute for Education Leadership as a significant force nationally and internationally.

“I am delighted to announce Professor Scott has been appointed Director and look forward to working with him in his new capacity.”

The International Institute for Education Leadership (IIEL) is a postgraduate teaching and research centre and gained an “excellent” rating in the November 2001 Higher Education Quality Assurance Agency Teaching Quality Review.
