Marketing guru David Jobber is giving a guest lecture at the University of Lincoln next week for the official launch of the Chartered Institute of Marketing Student Chapter.

David Jobber PhD has a doctorate from the University of Bradford and wrote the book ‘Principles and Practice of Marketing’ which has become a core text for marketing students.

He has also taught courses for managers from such international companies as BP, the BBC, Rolls Royce and the Royal and Sun Alliance.

Professor Jobber is the first guest lecturer to speak to the recently formed CIM Student Chapter which has been set up by principal lecturer Nick Taylor.

The chapter is aimed at providing students with a better understanding of the marketing industry through guest lectures, visits to businesses and work placements.

It’s run by a student committee in association with the Chartered Institute of Marketing and is open to both students and business people.

Toby Brown, who is in charge of public relations for the chapter, explained how it came about. “The country’s first CIMSC was created at the Staffordshire Business School with the aim of introducing business students to the real world of marketing. Following its success other universities have been quick to catch on and set up their own student chapter.”

Commenting on Professor Jobber’s guest lecture, Toby said: “It is an honour for both the Student Chapter and the students to be able to have such a knowledgeable and well known figure in the industry to launch the event. It will be great for us to see him in person after using his books so frequently.”

Guest speaker David Jobber will officially launch the CIM Student Chapter at the University of Lincoln in the Jackson Lecture Theatre on 18th October at 6.30pm.
