Identical twins Sophie and Charlotte Hall (21) are graduating from the University of Lincoln next week with first-class honours.

The twins from Ruskington near Sleaford have spent the last three years studying BA (Hons) in Psychology at the university’s Brayford Pool campus.

For their final-year projects Sophie and Charlotte used the university’s baby laboratory to explore child development and the relationship between language and thought in children.

Charlotte said: “We both worked really hard and would have been disappointed to get anything less than a first. When I found out my result I was delighted and the fact that Sophie also got a first was even better. I’m really pleased we both got the same mark.”

As well as studying at degree level together Charlotte and Sophie are both hoping to undertake an MSc in Psychology at the University of Lincoln after they graduate.

They’re currently working on a research project at the university called the Blue Dog Programme - a campaign being launched to try to reduce the number of children bitten by dogs. Working in conjunction with another institute Sophie and Charlotte are helping to develop an educational CD aimed at teaching children how to interact safely with animals.

The single honours degree programme gives students the basis for postgraduate study or professional training in any area of psychology and is particularly useful to those considering a career in health or social services.

The graduation ceremony will commence at Lincoln Cathedral at 7.30pm on Monday 12th September.
