University of Lincoln student Laure Astrid-Merrigot (21) has spent the summer working for the French government at the Invest in France Agency in London.

Whilst carrying out research for her final-year dissertation at the French Embassy Laure interviewed staff at the agency who were so impressed with her work they invited her to apply for an internship.

The Invest in France Agency aims to encourage foreign investment and offers free help and advice to UK-based businesses on trading, living and working in France.

Laure’s work involved monitoring press coverage on the French government’s new economic incentive for competitive clusters, liaising with the Invest in France press agency, updating the website and assisting the communications director.

Laure, who is from Lyon, is now intending to undertake an MSc in International Management at the University of Reading.

“The work has been quite varied and I have been involved in a number of interesting activities,” said Laure. “I thoroughly enjoyed my degree course at the University of Lincoln and working at the agency has given me the opportunity to put theory into practice.

“I have a better understanding of the marketing and public relations industry and have developed excellent communication skills. I hope this will provide me with the basis for a successful career within a large international company or ideally in a promotions/marketing agency such as Invest in France.”

Laure is due to graduate from the university with a 2:1 in European Marketing at Lincoln Cathedral on Tuesday 13th September at 11.30am.
