ALL THE FUN OF THE FRESHERS’ FAIR

Around 3000 students will be arriving in the city over the weekend in time for the University of Lincoln’s annual Freshers’ Week which gets underway on Sunday 18th September.

To help them find their feet as they settle into university life the Students’ Union Co-Operative has organised a week of events kicking off with a Brayford Belle River Cruise.

One of the highlights of the week is the return of ‘Alfresco’ which sees the campus turned into a mini fun fair with dodgems, bungee runs and a whole host of games to ensure a great start to the new term.

On Monday night former S Club member Jo O’Meara, who is launching her solo career, will be performing her new single ‘What Hurts the Most’ at the Delph Bar while on Wednesday, Radio 1’s Dreem Teem will be making an appearance along with Blaktwang and up-and-coming RnB star Nathan.

Other big names visiting the university during Freshers’ Week are Radio 1 DJs Chappers and Dave who will be headlining the Freshers’ Ball on Friday.

In addition to the night-time revelries there’ll also be plenty of opportunities for the freshers to get to know Lincoln better and experience some of city’s many attractions with tours of the cathedral, the castle and Lincoln’s ‘hidden gems’ organised during the daytime.

Students’ Union President Tom Watney said: “This year’s Freshers’ Week will be the biggest and best Lincoln has ever seen, with the widest range of activities and events to suit everyone’s tastes. With a year’s worth of planning put into one week of fun, it really will be a great start to their university career.”
