20th January 2005

Around 130 students will celebrate their academic achievements next week when they graduate from the University of Lincoln at Hull City Hall.

The university’s postgraduate awards ceremony will take place at 2.30pm on Friday 28th January 2005.

Guest of honour will be Simon Lunt, senior partner at Gosschalks solicitors and a member of the Board of Governors at the university.

Mr Lunt was born in Hull and educated at Hymers College before studying law at the University of Manchester and progressing to the College of Law at Lancaster Gate in London, where he completed the Law Society Professional Examinations.

When he returned to Hull in 1974 he undertook his two-year articles and qualified as a solicitor in 1976, his enthusiasm reignited by the commercial aspects of law.

On qualifying, he joined Gosschalks as a solicitor with a view to establishing a company and commercial department at the firm. He has led this department in the firm since 1978 and has been the senior partner since 2000.

He has served as a governor of the University of Lincoln since 1996, including a period as Vice Chairman. Now in his final year, he intends to continue his association as Chairman of the university’s Development Committee.
