After a busy year there will be double celebrations for University of Lincoln graduate Katie Spencer.

Katie (22) is getting married to her fiancé Andrew just four days before she graduates with an honours degree in Management and Tourism.

Katie, from Talke in Staffordshire, planned the wedding during her final year at university. And as if that wasn’t enough, she also spent her final year house-hunting and arranging a youth work trip to Malawi.

“I finished my exams at the end of May,” said Katie. “I then spent a week in Cheltenham buying a house, worked in Staffordshire for a month and finally we set off for our work in Malawi at the beginning of July.”

The pair met on a youth work trip and have continued their contributions to youth work whilst together as a couple.

“In Malawi we worked in schools. Our work was mainly classroom-based and we taught social studies.  We also took games out there and taught the students and teachers how to use and develop those.

“It was an amazing experience. We lived with local families who shared everything that they had with us despite not having much to share.”

Katie and Andrew will be married at 2pm on Saturday 11th September at Highbury Congregational Church in Cheltenham.

She will graduate at Lincoln Cathedral at 7.30pm on Wednesday 15th September, and the happy couple will jet off on their honeymoon to the south of France the following day.
