For the first year in the university’s history, the SU has also prepared an alternative Freshers’ Week agenda for the students who want to socialise without alcohol.

Alternative events mean taking advantage of the city’s evening facilities, which include ghost walks and cruises, cathedral and castle tours and a specially planned international students’ night on Wednesday 22nd September.

“By encouraging more people to get involved in Freshers’ Week without the pressure of having to get drunk, the SU believes that more students will socialise and meet new people, therefore settling down in their new surroundings more quickly,” said the SU’s Vice-President and communications officer Dean Eldredge.

All events are for students and bona fide guests only.
