A learning adviser from the University of Lincoln will be jetting off to India this week to take part in a voluntary work placement for a television company.

Stuart Porteous (26), a learning advisor in the Hull School of Media Technologies, will be working in Bangalore in India for six weeks.

Stuart, who also lectures in photography, video principles and multimedia production at the university, has received financial support from his employers.

I wanted to do something different and exciting, said Stuart. At first it was something I personally wanted to do but then I discovered that it could be relevant to my work.

Its an amazing opportunity to gain some work experience which I can feedback into my teaching activities in Hull.

Stuart will be joining around 45 other volunteers in India on a placement scheme arranged by the i-to-i (www.i-to-i.com) organisation.

Bangalore Television aims to launch a news channel and produce documentaries.
